Metsä Group Procurement Academy, Purchasing and logistics 2023-2025

The aim of the Academy was to strengthen procurement and maritime logistics as strategic enablers for Metsä’s business and to build the mindset and capabilities needed for continuous improvement. The primary goals were to enable participants to: • Adopt a strategic mindset, recognising how procurement, logistics and maritime operations create value and contribute to Metsä’s overall objectives. • Integrate sustainability into everyday decisions by understanding upcoming regulations, environmental impacts and the requirements for long-term supply chain resilience. • Advance supplier management and category excellence, including the ability to deepen collaboration and measure performance across the supplier network. • Improve financial and data-driven decision making, with a strong focus on understanding financial metrics, cost drivers and how they guide better decisions. The Academy consisted of 5 modules: Module 1: Operative purchasing and logistics - impact for business Module 2: Procurement and supply chain process and value add Module 3: Maritime logistics and sustainability Module 4: Category management and supplier relationship management Module 5: Purchasing, logistics and finance
